Portfolio Instructions

  1. Objectives
    1. To encourage student to review performance;
    2. To encourage student to develop the habit of checking effort and planning improvements.
    3. To hold student accountable for individual progress.
    4. To allow student to demonstrate their effort over a period of time.
    5. To provide practice in evaluation.
  2. Materials
    1. Container and Binding
      1. Manila folder
      2. Large binder clip big enough to handle many sheets of paper.
    2. Cover Sheet
      1. Student Name
      2. Class such as AP English IV
      3. Period
      4. Teacher
      5. Dates Portfolio Covers
    3. Table of Contents
    4. Best Five List
    5. Essay explaining why the Best 5 were chosen.
    6. Corrections of Quiz, Essay, Project, Research Paper, and Test
    7. Quiz, Essay, Project, Research Paper, and Test
    8. Sample of Classroom Notes and Reading Notes
    9. Creative Efforts inspired by class assignments, discussions, lectures.
  3. Criteria of Evaluation
    1. Neat, orderly presentation with some flair and creativity: holistic grade
    2. All work Completed work including corrections: holistic grade
    3. Evaluative Essay: holistic grade
    4. Extra points for Creativity, Evaluation, Completeness
    5. Minus points for missing work
  4. Note: as of this date, this assignment becomes necessary for a grade each semester. Failure to complete this assignment at end of semester will result in an I or an F.
  5. Due: Two weeks before end of semester.
